The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Shirley on Sunday March 24th, 2024, at the Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 89. Beloved wife of Walter for 68 years. Loving mother of Carl (Brenda), Elizabeth (Ben), Virginia (John) and Robert. Cherished grandmother of Sabrina, Bruce (Jill), Angela (Dave), Robert, Aaron (Elyse), Jared (Meg), Leanne (Alex), and Sarah (Maysen). Shirley is survived by 7 great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her brother Donald (late Iris) Montague. Shirley was predeceased by her parents James and Catherine Montague, by her infant son Earl, and by her siblings William, Mary (Bud) Fretz, Margaret (Pete) Chupa, Gladys (Les) Mack, John (Doris) Montague, Joe (Lorna) Montague, and Ruby (Jim) Beeston

Shirley loved to travel, make crafts, and do puzzles. She never stopped learning. Amongst other activities she took up horseback riding and swimming lessons in her later years.

The family would like to thank Dr. Celine Lamb, the staff of Spruce Hill Lodge, Timmins and District Hospital, and St. Mary's Manor for your kindness and patience with our mom.

Donations to the Spruce Hill lodge would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Shirley will be held at the Bible Fellowship Assembly, 207 Lawrence St., Porcupine, ON, on Thursday March 28th, 2024, at 11:00a.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00am until 11:00a.m. also at the Bible Fellowship Assembly.
