Rowan Cuthbert Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Rowan Cuthbert

1998-2020

It is with profound sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son Rowan William Cuthbert in South Porcupine at the young age of 22.

Rowan was born in San Antonio Texas and moved to South Porcupine when he was 8 years old with his family. Rowan was endearingly called “Tex” by his Grandpa Miner, but it did not take long for Rowan to “grow his Canadian wings” and took on hockey, skiing and enjoying the outdoors. Rowan was in Air Cadets, experiencing gliding, camping and participated in the biathlon, and,  he was part of the drama team representing O’Gorman High School at the Sears Provincial Drama Festival, It was here Rowan took home the award of merit for his acting. His summers were busy with regular large family gatherings at his grandparents Mary & Marvin’s campground, along with fishing trips and weekends at the cottage. Rowan had a real flair for fashion-the brighter, the louder, the tackier the better. He shared an appreciation for great music with his dad; he could work a computer inside and out and enjoyed a good game night with his family and friends. Rowan worked alongside his dad and uncle Karl in the family business Delnite Fire Extinguisher Service. Rowan was an intelligent, deep thinker with a kind heart. He was the guy who would spend his last $20.00 helping out someone others would pass by. He was the child who cried when he learned where chicken meat came from because he “liked chickens”. He had a quirky sense of humor and a big smile.

Rowan is survived by his grieving parents Katherine and Anthony Cuthbert, his loving sister Rebecca Cuthbert and his loving brother Andrew Cuthbert. Both will deeply miss their big brother and friend Rowan. He will be cherished by his loving grandparents Dale and Marlayne Miner and Mary and Marvin Frew. Dearly loved by his uncle Karl and auntie Tamara Cuthbert, his uncle Kal Cuthbert, his uncle Neil Miner, his auntie Anne and uncle Jude Caron, and his auntie Lynn and uncle Joel Caron. He will be deeply missed by his many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfather Karl Lloyd Cuthbert (Cecile Dutrisac). Before Rowan’s untimely death, he was aware and committed to his recovery of substance misuse. Rowan had his family’s support and was on a waitlist for treatment at the Jubilee Center.

As an expression of sympathy donations can be made to Teen Challenge North www.tcnorth.ca. It is the family’s hope no more people will wait when they desperately need help. Our hearts go out to all families who are dealing with addiction and mental health with their loved ones.

A private family service will be held on Friday October 16th, 2020 at Stinson Funeral Home, 100 Bruce Avenue, South Porcupine, (705) 235-2900 www.stinsonfuneralhome.net
