Ronald Vaillancourt Obituary

VAILLANCOURT, Ronald Dennis

May 17, 1951- Sept 15, 2022

Ron was a true northerner, outdoorsman extraordinaire, fixer of all things, and family provider.  He lived a very productive life and gave his final breath at home in South Porcupine, at the age of 71 years.  Predeceased by his eldest son, David, 2007; his parents, Roland, 1958 and Freda, 2001; parents in-law, Dr. Hal Kreiner, 1999 and Peggy Kreiner, 2011; nephew, Adrian Vaillancourt, 2018; in-laws: Jim Kreiner, 1982, Jack Tonkin 1996, Elizabeth Tonkin 2020.  Survived by his wife of 46 years, Laurie Kreiner; daughter, Angela; son, Russell (Cassidee Bova); and granddaughters, Navy Mae and Juniper Minthorn.  Brothers; Bobby (Janet) Vaillancourt and Rick Vaillancourt.  In-laws; Tom (Linda) Kreiner, Philip Kreiner, Kathy Kreiner Phillips (Dave).  Nieces/Nephews; Kathleen Tonkin-Zoe & Sophie Trahan; Jon & (Athena) Kreiner-Jared, Alyssa; Matt Kreiner-Samantha, Sarah; Evan Kreiner; Emma Kreiner (Nicholle Csongradi); Julia Kreiner (Tyler Kent); Nelson, Liam, & Michela Phillips; Dylan, Dallas & Dustin Vaillancourt and Amy & Aeron Vaillancourt.

Ron was a home body at heart; taking advantage of all that life offered here in Northern Ontario.  He was happiest when outside with either a rod or gun in his hand, bringing home many meals of wild meat and fish and passing along his passion for the outdoors to his children.  In addition to fishing and hunting, he enjoyed other hobbies such as motorcycling, skiing with family and friends at Kamiskotia, South Porcupine Scouts Leader, Whitney Senior Skating Group and Old Timers Hockey.  He had a natural knack for fixing; his mechanical skills served him well at home and in his career as a Millwright for Kidd Creek Metallurgical Site.  His problem-solving skills were recognized with a prestigious, Idea Award from Kidd Creek and his ability to adapt to situations allowed him to work in every different plant at Kidd Creek during his 37 year long career.  He spent many winters ski instructing and in the Kamiskotia Ski Rentals shop, running the business alongside his wife in the early years of raising their three children.

The family would like to thank the diligent doctors and health care professionals that provided his care over these last challenging years, from TDH; London U. Hospital Transplant; Sudbury Cancer Centre, Community Care Northeast, Bayshore palliative nursing.  Ron's wishes were a cremation followed by one last trip down the Mattagami River.

Ron's family will receive friend's downstairs at The Airport Hotel, South Porcupine, ON from 2-4pm on Sunday September 18, 2022.
