Ralfe Holm Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Father, affectionately known as Pappa, and cherished Uncle, Ralfe Holm. He peacefully passed away at Timmins and District Hospital at the age of 90, following a brief illness.

Ralfe's love for nature was profound, stemming from his passion for the outdoors, where he spent much of his time. An avid and knowledgeable outdoorsman, he instilled this love of the bush in all of us. He was also a devoted hockey dad, always supporting and encouraging his children in their pursuits.

Ralfe is survived by his son Bill (Louise) and daughter Wendy (Tim Mahon), along with grandchildren Darren (Melanie), Genevieve (Derek), Kiefer (Samantha), Kiela (Mike), and his great-grandchildren Kinney, Calvin, Hudson, and soon-to-arrive Baby Holm. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews Kathy (John), Diana, Bonnie (Yvon), Brian (Lynn), Steven (Sue), Janet, Don, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by relatives in Wales and Finland, as well as special friends Ron and Shirley Roy with whom he shared countless meals, stories, and adventures in Gardiner alongside cherished canine companions Mookie and Izzy.

Preceding him in death were his beloved wife Kielo (2016), his son Doug (2012), his parents Gus and Olga Holm, his sister Helen Joupilla, and his in-laws Tynne and William Barks.

Born and raised in Gardiner, a quaint community north of Cochrane, Ralfe spent most of his life there. He worked tirelessly in the bush for various logging companies before retiring from the MTO as a ferry operator of the Cassiopeia VI. With health challenges in later years, Mom and Dad relocated to South Porcupine to be closer to family, yet Gardiner always remained his cherished homestead, a place he revisited frequently. As the saying goes, "you can take the man out of the bush, but you can’t take the bush out of the man."

Rest in peace, Dad—your love will always be with us, and your memory cherished forever.
