In Loving Memory of
Irene Deacon (née Libby)
1926-2022
With sorrow, the family announces Irene’s passing at Extendicare on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Beloved wife of Philip Kenneth Deacon (predeceased 2010). Loving mother of Gordon (Rose-Marie) Deacon. Treasured grandmother of Philip (Ally) of Thunder Bay, Shelby (Riley), and Lauren. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was a lifetime resident of South Porcupine and she enjoyed spending time with family at both home and the cottage at Ice Chest Lake. Ice Chest Lake has lost one of their original cottagers. Irene was the Office Manager at London Life before having her only child, Gord, and deciding to stay home. Irene loved to golf and was a daily fixture at the original Hollinger Golf Course. In the winter she enjoyed curling at the Dome Curling Club and had the honour of playing on teams that achieved the distinction of a rare eight ender, a seven ender and two six enders throughout the years that she curled. “Rockin Irene”, as she was nicknamed by her son, enjoyed her weekly hair and nail appointments. She looked forward to visitors at Extendicare and always sought their opinions on her hair and nails and her eyes would light up if those visitors brought her Timbits or saffron buns(thanks Kelley Stanlake). Thank you to Dr. Vaithilingam, Dr. DiTullio, the staff and nurses at Extendicare for taking such wonderful care of Irene. Remembrance donations to Spruce Hill Lodge or Timmins and District Hospital will be gratefully acknowledged by the family. A private family funeral service will be held in Irene’s honour. Arrangements entrusted to STINSON FUNERAL HOME, SOUTH PORCUPINE (705) 235-2900 www.stinsonfuneralhome.net
