Estelle (Gratton) Larose

ESTELLE LAROSE (nee GRATTON)

April 11, 1936 to November 25, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Estelle Marie Larose (nee Gratton) of South Porcupine. Estelle passed away peacefully in Timmins at the age of 86 with her daughter by her side.

Estelle was born in Timmins to Herve Gratton and Lawrence Gratton (nee Payette).  She is survived by her sister, Murielle Paquette (late Roger Paquette) and her brother, Gilles Gratton and his wife Estelle Gratton.  She was predeceased by her sister Odette Duncan and her brother-in-law, Micheal Duncan.

Estelle married Clément Émile Larose (predeceased 2016) in Timmins on April 7, 1958.  She is survived by their three children: Louise Larose, Richard Larose and Robert Larose (his partner, Laurie Haldenby).  She is also survived by her grandchildren: Whitney Gattesco, Darren Gattesco (his wife Cristy and their children, Victoria and Lexis), Auburn Larose (her partner Susan Weiskopf), Samantha Larose, and Taylor Larose (his wife Rachel and their children Reagan and Hudson), as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Following her marriage to Clem, Mom became a devoted wife, mother and home maker.  Once the children were older, she began working on a part-time basis at Clarke’s Men’s Wear in South Porcupine.  She had a great sense of humour and lived by her own rules. She loved animals, especially cats.

Mom lived in South Porcupine throughout her adult life.  The family is grateful to Dr. DiTullio, the nurses, the personal support workers (PSW) and staff for the care they provided Mom during these past 2 years and for the compassion and support Mom and Louise received towards the end of Mom’s life.

As Mom requested, there will be no visitation or funeral.  A private family interment will take place at the Tisdale Cemetery in the spring.  If you would like to honour our mother, please donate to either the Timmins Humane Society or to the Alzheimer Society of Timmins-Porcupine.
