Lauay, Bessie (née Van Luven)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bessie Jean Louise Lauay on July 10th, 2022, at the age of 91. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma.

Bessie is survived by her husband Russell of 69 years and their children, Jim Lauay (Jo-Ann), Sandra Weir, Grace Mask, Brenda Robertson, and Patricia Mitchell (Jeff). Bessie was extremely proud of her nine grandchildren Wally, Wayne, Shanna, Matthew, Adam, Amy, Nicole, Cindy, and Jamie and her seventeen greatgrandchildren. She is predeceased by her brothers Fred, Allen, Bob, Dennis, Bert, Lloyd, and by her sister Margaret.

Bessie will be fondly remembered for her devotion to her family and friends. She loved to entertain and was a wonderful cook and baker. She had a knack for all types of crafts especially knitting and cross stitching. A strong woman of faith she was very involved with her church and her seniors' group. Bessie was also an avid reader, enjoying her word search daily. She loved reminiscing about the many cruises her and Russell enjoyed.

Bessie was very appreciative of the care she received from the staff at the Golden Manor.
In lieu of flowers, a remembrance donation in Bessie’s memory can be made to the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer (NOFOCC).

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday July 14th, 2022, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Stinson Funeral Home, 100 Bruce Avenue, South Porcupine, ON, P0N 1H0 (705)235-2900 www.stinsonfuneralhome.net
