Aune Bell

Bell, Aune Marjatta (nee Hirvilammi), 1936 - 2024  

Passed into the Lord's presence on April 6, 2024, at home in her 89th year.  

Survived by her family: Deborah Pell, David Bell (Vivian), AnnaMae Bleakley (Steve), Kathleen Wixson (late Mark), Chris Bell, Ruth Bell (Gilles). She also leaves 10 Grandchildren, Lucanus and Jessica, Rachel (Brent) and Robbie, Ross (Stephanie), Connor and Jonathan, Kirstie, Kayla and Madison and step-grandchildren; Ariane, Michelle, Lani, and Heidi. Finally, she leaves behind five Great Grandchildren: Peyton, Landon, Ryker, Benjamin, and Brook. 

Aune was predeceased by her first husband, David MacMain (1959) and her husband of over 52 years, Leonard Bell (2013), her son Timothy (1999) and daughter Leona (2020). She was also predeceased by her sisters Sylvia (John) and Salme Doey (Frank) and brother John Hirvilammi (widow Donna). 

Aune was a lifelong Christian and was a founding member of the Bible Fellowship Assembly. Aune became a widow at 23 with four children 6 years and younger. She received guidance and support from Chester Donaldson and other church elders and often held Bible studies in her home, where she met future husband Leonard. 

In addition to raising eight children, Aune had a lengthy job history, which included, Crossing Guard, Store Detective (Kmart), the Toke Street Residence, Little Hands Day Care, the Cochrane Temiskaming Resource Center, Community Living and Access Better living. She volunteered for many charities, including the South Porcupine Food Bank, and was a member of the Gideons Women's Auxiliary. She also held children's missionary week each summer in her front yard for many years. 
 
As a lifelong member of the Bible Fellowship Assembly, she leaves behind many very close friends, whom she considered to be her second family. 

The family will receive friends at the Bible Fellowship Assembly Chapel (207 Lawrence St, Porcupine) on Thursday April 11th from 6-8pm and from 11:30am to 1pm on Friday April 12th. The funeral will follow at 1pm in the main sanctuary of the chapel.
